Christmas is almost upon us and we’re all looking forward to putting our feet up with a glass of something. But before you put the garden to bed over the holidays, here are some things that could really help make sure that your garden survives the Christmas slump.
Tidying up borders can really help clear the tatty remains of the year. Leaving sodden debris and fallen leaves around plants will only encourage pests and disease. Clear out any storage space including greenhouses and sheds. This will mean for a fresh start for gardening in the new year!
Preparing your soil for next year is also a great, forward planning idea, by adding a layer of organic matter to replace the goodness in it. It can only then be left in a rough state over the winter when the elements will break the clods down. Planting bare-rooted trees, shrubs, hedging and roses as well as fruit trees and bushes.
So, prepare your garden for 2015 and have a Merry Christmas from all of us at Meo Landscapes!
